Cooking 101: How to Cut an Onion with Dave - $75 per person
As this is the beginning of our anniversary month, after 7 years, the number 1 thing I see people struggle with in classes is to how to cut and onion, and why you cut it one way vs another. In this class we’re going to spend a little time cutting onions and practicing technique and then we’re going to make 4 different recipes that feature onions all with different knife cuts. This is a hands-on class. *Every person will be practicing onion cutting and will take all of their onions home! This class is taught in our 2x4 format – we’ll split up into groups of 2 and each twosome will tackle one recipe.
On The Menu:
· Quick rundown on most popular “round” onion types
· How to properly peel, halve, slice, dice, julienne, – and how to apply shape to outcome
· How to minimize onion tears (sharp knife. That’s it. A sharp knife.)
· Dice – Onion Jam – Long Crostini with Triple Crème, Onion Jam, Pear, Walnut Truffle Honey Drizzle
· Slice – Pennsylvania Dutch Onion Casserole
· Julienne/Strips – Weeknight French Onion Soup, Big Toasted Bread Croutons, Lots of Melted Provolone Cheese
· Layers – Dolmas Mahshi
