South Asia: Bhutan with Dave - $99 per person 

 

The countries that comprise South Asia have developed centuries-old culinary flavors, practices, and traditions that have spread well past their respective borders. South Asia extends from Afghanistan in the West all the way to Bangladesh in the East and includes the countries South of the Himalayan divide. This region’s rich history of culinary excellence has been shaped by different tribes and ethnic groups, who have contributed their varied cooking techniques and plethora of ingredients to create diverse cuisines that capture the tastebuds of just about everyone across the globe. In this Series, we are going to explore South Asia, country by country, and cuisine by cuisine as we take a food tour throughout the Sub-Continent to discover some of the best flavors and recipes this region of the world has to offer! This is a hands-on series. This class is taught in our 2x4 format – we’ll split up into groups of 2 and each twosome will tackle one-two recipes. 

 

Bhutan – Where the Chili is considered an everyday staple vegetable. The dishes of Bhutan are simple and humble and showcase many culinary marks influenced by its surrounding neighbors.  

 

On The Menu: 

  • Phaksha Paa (Pork with Chili, Radish, Greens) 

  • Jasha Maroo (Spicy Chicken Stew with Tomato, Onion, Spices) 

  • Kewa Datshi (Potato, Cheese, and Chili in Thick Gravy), Bhutan Red Rice 

  • Kwati(Mixed Beans and Lentil Curry), Puta (Buckwheat Noodles) 

  • Ezay (Garlic and Chili Chutney), Goen Hogay (Cucumber Salad)
