American Road Trip: Get Your Kicks on Route 66 with Dave
Who’s up for a Road Trip? In this class (which will repeat every month this year with a new region) is going to focus on a specific area of America and some of the classic American Culinaria that has come from that area. This month we’ll be heading back in time to the days of cross country family vacations in the good ol’ Station Wagon traveling down historic Route 66! So come and join us - It's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses. If you get that reference, you definitely need to be in these classes! This is a hands-on class. This class is taught in our 2x4 format – we’ll split up into groups of 2 and each twosome will tackle one recipe.
On the menu:
- The First Stop on the Mother Road – Lou Mitchells’ Diner (Chicago) Belgian Malted Pecan and Bacon Waffles
- The oldest restaurant in continuous operation on Route 66, opened in 1924 – The Ariston (Carlinville, Illinois) Café Peach Cobbler
- Sled Dog Inn (Flagstaff, AZ) Impossible Sausage Pie
- “The Gateway to California” Old Trails Inn (Needles, CA) Old Trails Inn Potato Cake
