Using Spices: Cardamoms with Dave
Do you have a cabinet full of spices you don’t know what to do with? In this class we’re going to go over individual spices and learn how to use them in new fun ways.This month we’re playing with Cardamom! This spice, which is in the same family as ginger and turmeric, comes from the shoots of a rhizome and is native to southern India. But it’s uses and reach go way beyond where it is from. There’s even an imposter we’ll be using... or will we? This is a class we repeat every month with a new spice! This is a hands-on class. This class is taught in our 2x4 format – we’ll split up into groups of 2 and each twosome will tackle one recipe.
On the menu:
- Green – Murgh Masala (cardamom chicken)
- Black – Verhuny (Ukranian Fried Pastry with Black Cardamom)
- Red – Quick Pho Bo – (Vietnamese meatball pho flavored with red cardamom in quick Pho broth)
- White – Sichuan Fuqi Feipian (Sichuan Sliced Braised Beef)
