Soy Sauces with Dave
Very simply, Soy Sauce is a fermented sauce of soybeans and wheat from China… But it is so much more than that! In this umami packed class, we are going to have a soy sauce tasting, talk about how different countries use different soy sauces in their cuisines, and then make 4 delicious recipes all unique to a different kind of soy sauce. There will also be a tasting of about 15 different soy sauces so be sure to bring plenty of water…This is a hands-on class. This class is taught in our 2x4 format – we’ll split up into groups of 2 and each twosome will tackle one recipe.
On the menu:
- Soy Sauce for Stir Frying (Korean) – Ojingeo Bokkeum (Spicy Squid Stir Fry)
- Dark Soy Sauce (Chinese) – Hunan Style Tofu and Mushroom Stir Fry
- Thick (Sweet) Soy Sauce (Kecap Manis) (Indonesia) – Bakmi Goreng
- Ponzu – Citrus Soy Sauce (Japanese) Ponzu and Miso Roasted Salmon
